The preposition“with”is used relatively frequently in TCFL.Because of its complex and diverse usage and the obscure distinction from other similar prepositions, students are apt to make many error sentences in the use of the preposition“with”.The paper mainly studies on the errors made by Japanese students in the process of acquisition of “with”,and does statistics on the error sentences in the HSK dynamic composition corpus for the purpose of finding out the emphasis and difficulty in the process of the preposition “with”acquisition by analyzing errors which are classified into four types in this paper,namely,obfuscations, omissions,additions and misorderings and the causes. At last, Hope that some suggestions put forward can be available for TCFL.The paper includes four chapters. In the first chapter, it mainly states the significance of choosing this topic, the current studies of the preposition “with”and the methods this study resorts to for what purpose. In the second chapter, it mainly analyzes the pragmatic usage of the preposition “with”and makes a comparison in the semantic usage between the preposition “with” and the prepositions“for”and “to”. In this chapter, it also compares the expressions of “with”in Japanese and Chinese to find out the differences in the grammar system and the word order of both languages for the purpose of making students intuitively perceive the effects of negative transfer of mother tongue and important and difficult points in the acquisition of target language. However, four types of errors made in the process of the preposition “with”acquisition will be discussed in detail in the third chapter. In the following chapter,it mainly elaborates the causes to the errors. In the final chapter, it takes a passage extracted from the book: The Road to Success for instance to find out the weakness of textbooks on the purpose of making some suggestions on the improvement of teaching materials and teaching and drafting the relevant instructional design.By resorting to the study above,for Japanese students, it can be easy to understand the crux of the problem in the process of acquisition, and for TCFL teachers, it is more available to formulate the targeted instructional design for improving the learning efficiency. At the end of this paper, it also drafts some instructional designs for reference. And hopefully this study about the preposition “with”can do some favor to the TCEL.
