A Translation Report To Letters Of A Traveller (Letter â…©â…§-â…©â…©â…£)

This thesis is a translation report about travel notes. The report, based on the translation of some certain parts of Letters of a Traveller written by William Cullen Bryant, is an analysis of the translation process and its completion.Whether as an important part of literature or a significant form of reflection of the social activities, travel notes are worth studying and paying attention to. Moreover, the translation of travel notes can not only help us know the local customs and practices of foreign countries, their history and social status, but also promote mutual communication and learning between different cultures, thus realizing a communicative, understanding, open, and harmonious development of the world. These seven letters chosen from the travel notes are about the author’s experience during his traveling in Liverpool, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin, the author not only presented descriptions of local natural environment, birds and insects, and landscapes to readers but also conveyed information of social status, religious development, cultural background, and historical features.This report is divided into four parts.The first part describes the translation task, including introduction to translation background introduction and a brief introduction to the author.The second part is the procedure description, which includes preparation, the schedule of the translation task and translation review.The third part is the case analysis of translation text including different types of problems and translation strategies.
