Research On The Natural Travel Notes In The Late Ming

The prevalence of natural travel notes in the late Ming is a distinctive literary phenomenon. From about 1560s to 1680s,numerous travel writers appeared and brought about a great amount of travel literary work.In the late Ming Dynasty,travel was extremely popular among literati,which fostered the prosperity of creative work of travel notes in the late Ming.It in turn boosted the development of travel literature and pushed travel literature to a new peak at that time.The content of travel literature was thus expanded to a wider extension.The awareness of travelogue theory and a new travelling conception were raised.The literati in the late Ming Dynasty expressed their own values and ideals in natural travel notes that served as a means of comforting themselves.It enriched the spiritual contents of natural travel notes.This paper is going to present a highlighted aspect of the literati's lives from the perspective of natural travel notes,to summarize the influence of theory of the landscape travel,to figure out the rich spiritual contents implicated in natural travel notes,and to discuss such subjects as the relations between literati and nature,the literati's aesthetic view towards nature,and their pursuit of cultural comfort.This paper is divided into three parts:the introduction,the body and the conclusion.In the body part,the author will elaborate on the topic in four chapters.In the introductory paragraphs,the author will talk about current situation of researches on natural travel notes in the late Ming and come up with the purpose of this thesis and the clues of the research.In Chapter One,the author will demonstrate the popularity of travelling among literati and their obsession with the creative work of natural travel notes in the late Ming Dynasty.It is a special phenomenon that literati had a special liking and attached great importance to travelling in their cultural life.At the same time,it boosted the flourishment of the creative work of travel notes.The prolificacy and diversity of such writers and work was unprecedented,which made creative work of travels stand out in the history of both late Ming Dynasty literature and Travel Literature. Chapter Two is about literati's particular notion towards travelling and their conscious travel notes theory.Literati in the late Ming Dynasty summed up a series of travelogue theory which reflected their tastes.They started sorting out the theory of travel literature from many aspects.In Chapter Three the author is going to reveal the literati's distinctive attitudes towards nature embodied in natural travel notes.The spiritual connotation of pursuing comfort within was melted with nature and thus their concept of nature was formed.Their sensitive attitude towards nature has a distinctive characteristic of their time,which ushered in an age with new ways of appreciating the nature.Therefore,it is historically significant in the field of nature appreciation.Chapter Four discovers the literati's pursuit of their ideals implicated in natural travel notes.The literati in the late Ming Dynasty drew much attention to their imaginative ideal life rather than the real life,trying to create a poetically artistic conception that can be inspiration to them.What they expressed in natural travel notes are their creation and obsession with natural beauty,their cherishing attitude to their friends in travelling and their voice of their self-nature.In the conclusion part,the author briefly analysis the significance of Late Ming natural travel notes in its literary independent sense and modern spirit sense.The author then reviews the structure, clue and the significance of this paper.
