In order to facilitate national minorities to learn Han culture, Xu Heng who was born in Yuan Dynasty wrote the book ——Literal Interpretation of The Doctrine of the Mean. As “Literal Interpretation ” corpus which is handed down few in number,it’s more colloquial, it’s an important corpus for us to research Modern Chinese. But at present, from the perspective of linguistics, a lot of attentions have not paid to it in academia.This article will research Literal Interpretation of The Doctrine of the Mean from the perspective of linguistics, through specific contrastive analysis of the text and annotation languages, to discuss the differences and relations of the pre-Qin language and Yuan Dynasty language on the same sememe and to research its evolution process. Then on this basis, it researches the appearance of Yuan Dynasty language and explores the regularity and characteristics of the commonly used words evolution. This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introduction section. This part,mainly introduces the research status of Literal Interpretation of The Doctrine of the Mean and the evolution of commonly used words.In addition, research contents, research ideas and methods of this article are also briefly introduced. The second, third and forth chapters are the main part of this paper.The three parts mainly study the vocabulary of Literal Interpretation of The Doctrine of the Mean. By contrastive analysis of text and annotation languages, we select 11 groups of content words which has changed, two groups of nouns, five groups of verbs, three groups of adjectives. We research the evolution processes of these content words concretely, therefrom, to explore the regularity and characteristics of the evolution of commonly used words. The fifth chapter is the conclusion part. Through concrete study of evolution process of ten groups of commonly used words, we found that although the evolution of commonly used words has its own features on the result of replacement, the time of replacement and the process of replacement, they still has something in common.
