The commonly used words are the main body of the Chinese Vocabulary system, whichmeans that the concept is closely related to human activities. The study of evolution ofcommonly used words is the basis for a systematic study of the history of vocabulary, and it hasan important significance in the study of the history of vocabulary. The study of evolution ofcommonly used words is received more and more attention in recent years. The related researchresults are spring up, but a case study of the evolution of commonly used words is still need toget further strengthened.The article adopts the methods of combining investigation and statistics, the synchronic anddiachronic, and quantitative with qualitative, and reference related dictionaries. Make thesemantic field as the unit to explore the historical evolution of commonly used words of thecategory of "jump". By investigating the relevant literature, and the reference dictionaries, thisarticle selects10members such as“跳（tiao）/踊（yong）/跃（yue）/腾（teng）/超（chao）/透（tou）/踔（chuo）/迸（beng）/蹿（cuan）/距（ju）”in the"jump" semantic field as a typical kinds of "jump" commonly used words. Divided it intoancient, medieval, modern three periods, each period selects about10documents asthe representative literature in this period, and make the corpus collection and retrieval, thenfrom two aspects of the synchronic and diachronic to study. First, respectively make thesynchronic description of each of the three period "jump" kinds of commonly used words’meaning change, using frequency, combination relations, the description of thegrammar and the status of the use in semantic field and so on. On the basis of this, make acomparative analysis for the use of every commonly used word in each three periods, from theterms of derivative evolution, to parse the evolution of the specific meaning expression of thesecommonly used words in the "jump" semantic field in different periods. Then analyze themeaning evolution out of the semantic field. From the terms of alternating evolution, to analyzein different periods the alternate conditions of the members’ new added andold reduction in the semantic field. Through the description and analysis of the evolutionprocess of this group commonly used words, we summarized the characteristics and rules inthe evolution process, it mainly manifested in the following four aspects. Firstly, the core words in semantic field in different period is different; secondly is that it has trend offrom the monosyllabic words developing into polysyllabic words; the third is word meaningoccurs the situation of similar and extension; the fourth is in the process of evolution, thesecommonly used words from ambiguity to clear. We believe that the reasons to influencethe evolution is in many aspects, there are internal factors in language system, also has theeffect of external factors such as the social, the cognitive. The influence ofvocabulary system and avoid ambiguity is the main internal reasons in the evolution of"jump" commonly used word, while cognition of the human is an important external factor inthis evolution.This article is divided into four parts, the first part is the introduction, which describes thesignificance of this study, current research, research methods and objectives, and commonly usedwords and to define the category of "jump" commonly used words, and explained the relevantquestion. The second part is the synchronic description, which divided into three periods, andmake synchronic description for the class of "jump" commonly used words. Showing each wordexpressed specific meaning and the using frequency in the form of chart, and find out the thecore words in each period.The third part is the diachronic investigation, to make thediachronic analysis for the situation of three stages. Find out the meaning evolution of commonlyused words in this semantic field in different stages and the alternate of new and old in its field.The fourth part is to summarize the evolution characteristics of class of "jump" commonlyused word, and to explore the rules and reasons of the evolution.Make the semantic field as a unit to study the evolution of commonly used words isprovide a new perspective for the research of Chinese lexical semantic system and thehistory of vocabulary, in addition, we can further understand the ancient Chinese vocabularyfeatures, deeply understand the word meaning and its changes, which can provide thematerial basis for the study of the history of vocabulary.
