The article using the rise and fall of Chinese Comic and the rise of Picture Book since the1950 s as links, and combining the cultural background under special period and social environment to seek and analyze the theory and motivation of the cultural transformation from Chinese Comic and Picture Book. According to the cultural characteristic of Chinese Comic and Picture Book to historically reorganize it. To analyze the cultural transformation from two clues: one is based on social ideology, and the other is based on market economy. The transformation is subdivided into the transformation of cultural and popular aesthetic and the transformation of customer group and publishing. During the information age, the evolution from popular culture to popular aesthetic passes through these two clues.Chapter one, to define the related concept and reorganize the artistic expression, creative themes and publishing’s historical development of Chinese Comic and Picture Book. Furthermore,to put emphasis on artistic expression and creative themes as theoretical basis to seek.Chapter two, the cultural characteristics and transformation of Chinese Comic. During the backward of new China, Chinese Comic as a unique and charm narrative to publicize and popularize knowledge and it is the vital function of entertainment and cultural life. With the transition of cultural and social situation, Chinese Comic goes to the golden age. Functionally, from the cultural revolution of despotism is dominated by the cultural enlightenment to turn to for humanitarian thought enlightenment. As for artistic forms, from the lofty ideological height to carry forward and grand praises the common pursuit of personality embodied in the ontology connect to turn to artists.Chapter three, to expound the basis and condition of the cultural transformation of Picture Book. Under market economy, free and exoteric cultural policy nourish the booming growth of popular culture. The public media promote the information globalization, and also break up the limited of traditional reading mode by kinds of visual communications. Culture and the change of social structure bring the evolution of popular aesthetic and consumption concept and provide the opportunity for the cultural transformation of Chinese Comic.Chapter four, to concern the emergence drawing and display closely related to Chinese Comicvariations:there is a new orientation of modern art and crafts affected by the changing consumption level;within competition between Chinese Comic and mass culture, a decline in entertainment is witnessed, giving way to regaining true value and its position in the market. However, media printing remains a demand and it can best be illustrated by ’Jimi’ work brought from Taiwan reps who aims to cater for the public. Through massive reading and art creating, there will be a bright fusion in near future.Chapter five, the cultural characteristic of Picture Book under the horizon of popular aesthetic.Image narration is given priority to the Picture Book that it has intertextuality with script. Through the children’s perception of beauty and the balanced relationship of art and business, Picture Book satisfy people who live in the busy city desire for easy reading and gain spiritual consolation rather than heavy sermonize. But Chinese original Picture Book still at development stage, it needs to look for the location which belongs to itself cultural language in the international market.In conclusion, as a popular cultural customer product, popularity becomes an important reason of cultural transformation which also is a triumph. From the transformation of Chinese Comic to Picture Book, popular aesthetic gets attention and promotion. From singleness to diversification,popular aesthetic complementary promotes the development of modern Picture Book.
