| College students’ employment problem is getting more and more serious in recent year, rigorous employment pressure has already become a very important social issue. In Super’s theory of career development, adolescents play an exploration role in the period of their career development. College students are just represents of adolescents. Understanding the situation of college students’ career development can effectively help them choose occupations and obtain the chances of employments。In recent years, the higher vocational education was very prosperity, and people has been paied more and more attention on the career development of vocational college students. Compared with general college students, higher vocational college student has their unique career and future lives, so it is necessary for us to enrich the study on their career developments. This research study on the difference of several aspects of career exploration between general college students and high vocational college students, and the relationship of their career exploration with their parenting style, career decision-making locus of control and coping style. This study is aiming to understanding more about the situation of career exploration behavior of college students, so that the students can improve the awareness of their exploration on themselves and the professional world, and reduce the behavior of blindly choose a career by without considering their ability and the professional situation.Using the short-form Egma Minnen Borndoms Uppforstran, the behavior questionnaire of Career Exploration Scale, the questionnaire of the short-form Coping Style and the questionnaire of career decision-making locus of control, we surveyed students from higher vocational colleges and general colleges in Shijiazhuang. The study focus on the differences of the behaviors of career exploration and parenting style between the students of the two type colleges; the relationship between their career decision-making locus of control,coping style, parenting style and career exploration. It proved the main results as follow:1. The enthusiasm of career exploration of higher vocational college students is higher than that of general college students.2.The main effects of gender, grade and profession on career exploration are significant. The male students do much better on career exploration than the female students; Compared with freshmen, sophomore do much better on career exploration; Students of Art do much better than students of science and engineering; The students of only child do better than those of non-only-child. The interactions of school and grade is significant. The mean score of the sophomore from higher vocation college is higher than the sophomore from general college, while there is no significant between the career exploration of the freshmen from the two type colleges; The mean score of sophomore is higher than the freshmen in higher vocational colleges, while the difference of the career exploration between the college students at the two grade is not significant.3.The main effects of gender, grade, major and the only child or not on exploring environment are significant, the interaction of school and grade is significant. The main effects of major and the only child or not on self-exploration is significant, the interaction of school and grade is significant. The main effects of gender and the only child or not on systemic exploration is significant, the interaction of school and gender is significant, the interaction of school and grade is significant. The main effects of grade, major and the only child or not on getting information is significant.4.The career decision-making locus of control, coping style and career exploration exist very significant correlations, the corrections among sub-dimensions are also significant. The correlation between career decision-making locus of control and positive coping style is negative. The correlation between the factors of coping style and the factors of career exploration is positive. The correlation between career decision-making locus of control and the factors of career exploration are positive.5.Positive coping style plays a partial mediator factor role on the relationship between career decision-making locus of control and career exploration, exploring environment, systemic exploration, getting information, respectively. Positive coping style plays a fully mediator factor role on the relationship between decision-making locus of control and systemic exploration.But negative coping style’s mediating effect between career decision-making locus of control and career exploration is not significant.School plays a moderator role on the relationship between positive coping style and exploring environment, systemic exploration, getting information, respectively. School plays a moderator role between career decision-making locus of control and systemic exploration.6.Compared with general college students, Higher vocational college students’ parenting style is more unhealthier.7.Parenting style can significantly predict the factor of career exploration. The parenting style have different effects on career exploration of the students in higher vocational colleges and general colleges. |
