Sun Di was a representative writer of parallel prose in the period between Bei Song to Nan Song Dynasty. His parallel prose was wrote on the basis of inheritance and show the characteristic of new changes. Meanwhile, the literary style of Su Shi’s and Wang Anshi’s parallel prose exerted a strong and profound influence on Sun Di’s creation. Due to these, Sun Di’s parallel prose conformed but not stubbornly sticked to principle, combined the features of rigorousness and flexibility, with a distinctive personal style in his time. However, because of political reasons and controversies about his moral quality, researches about Sun Di’s parallel prose are not plenty. This paper selects Biao Wen and Qi Wen from Sun Di’s parallel prose as the research objects. Combined with the background of the times, literary style and personal experience, this study intent to explore the thought, emotion and artistic achievements of Sun Di’s parallel prose on the basis of in-depth interpretation of the text. Throughing these analyses and discusses, the researches on Sun Di’s parallel prose could be enriched, and the whole style and features of parallel prose in this period could be learned.This paper mainly discusses Biao Wen and Qi Wen of Sun Di from three aspects.First chapter: Sun Di has been a historical figure suffering from many disputes. This chapter firstly discusses several events which influence the evaluation about Sun Di, srriving to make an objective and fair judgement on Sun Di’scharacter. Then, making a summary about literary conception combined with the Sun Di’s literary creation, specifically including the concept of value, writing principle and evaluation standards.The second chapter: Firstly, this part talk about the specific content and classification about this two kind of articles. Gratitude and congratulation are the key topic of Biao Wen. Qi Wen is mainly a note of thanks, wishes, response and reply. These articles are filled with true feelings everywhere, reflects the ups and downs of Sun Di’s official career, and show the comunnication and contact with friends and colleagues. Based on the detailed interpretation of texts, this chapter further explore the complex subject emotion, the realistic pertinence, the spirit of political participation, and the sorrow and fraught official mentality reflected in Sun Di’s Biao Wen and Qi Wen.Chapter three: making a thorough inquiry about artistic characteristics of Sun Di’s proses, mainly from three aspects: the technique of expression, the momentum of writing and the structure of essay.Thus,this text sums up that Sun Di prefer pictorial writing techniques of allusions and analogy, his Biao Wen and Qi Wen are full of variations in sentence patterns and exhibit magnificent momentum, and diversified narrations and coherent structure are commom artistry in his productions. Moreover, in the process of the study, we should adhere to take text as foundation, take social literacy trends and the creations of the predecessors into consideration,seeking the influence which these facctors imposed on Sun Di.It is necessary for us to put his proses into the background of the times, and make a comparison research in the transverse and longitudinal ways, which not noly could highlight the unique artistic charm of but also elaborate the causes of foundation about the artistic characteristics of Sun Di’s proses.
