The Wen Xuan doesn’t contain the articles that are not compatible with the aesthetic orientation and of low quality, such as the realistic Biao of Chen Lin and Ruan Yu. In terms of artistic techniques, the Wen Xuan gives priority to the quotation and antithesis. In the meantime, it contains the artistic techniques of metaphor and comparison. After all, the Wen Xuan is a Literature collection. This is the reason why the lexicographer should take the times, types and quantity and the aesthetic orientation into account. Because of this, the Wen Xuan is different from the Wen Xin Diao Long in both aim and style. And that’s the reason why they turn out to be of great difference at the same time background.The article in the literary style of Biao was a kind of upward official document which was sent from the courtiers to the throne. From the format, it obeyed the rules of superiority and inferiority between the courtiers and the throne. From the content, it showed a strong sense of politics.
