This thesis is a reflective report on a simulated E-C consecutive interpreting. The audio material is selected from a public speech delivered by the president of the World Bank Jim Young Kim in the US. The contents of his speech are about the current situation of extreme poverty around the world and corresponding policies adopted by the World Bank. The interpreting process is video-recorded, then transformed into texts. The report is divided into three parts: Chapter One describes the preparation and the implementation process of the simulated consecutive interpreting. Chapter Two is the analysis of source text which includes the summary of the language features and possible difficulties in interpreting. Chapter Three focuses on the causes of the problems. The typical problems can be classified into three types: information loss, logical confusion caused by complex sentences and listening obstacles. After that the author provides corresponding solutions to these problems, including anticipation, note-taking practice, adjustment and reformulation, and so on. Finally the author draws a conclusion for this report. The author hopes the countermeasures provided in this thesis can be of value to consecutive interpreting.
