A Practice Report On Translation Of International Trade And Finance In CBO Official Website

This paper is a practical translation report based on the texts from the economic topic on the Congressional Budget Office website in the USA which introduce the information about budget, taxes, acts and polices on trade and finance. The translation task is provided by Harbin Yutang Translation Co., Ltd. The economic and trade budget texts translated into Chinese is my study object. From the semantic and syntactic analytical perspectives. I study and analyze some problems in the course of translation,and work out the reasonable measures to solve the problems under the theory of functional equivalence.This paper has five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the CBO website, the translation task, the features of translation task, and the request of the client.This chapter introduces the main content and character of the translation task:International Trade and Finance as part of the budget report text is objective,professional and accurate. The second part is the description of the practice process and the introduction of translation theory. This report is based on "functional equivalence" theory proposed by Engene A Nida, American linguist and translation theory researcher,according to the text features. So, under the guidance of the theory, the International Trade and Finance of 2014 United States government budget report and the International Trade and Finance of 2015 United States government budget report are selected as my study objects. Analyzing the problems respectively from the semantic aspect and syntactic aspect encountered in the translation work. I work out the appropriate translation strategies and the flexible translation methods under the translation theory “functional equivalence”.The last part is the summary of the practice report. Through the practice, the author’s professional quality is improved and sublimated, which will contribute to my translation practice in the future. I also hope that my study will contribute to our translation practice in trade and finance area.
