A Report On Interpretation Between Doctors And Patients In Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital

Since June 2015, the author has undertaken and participated in many interpreting practices in Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital. This report is about a consecutive interpreting for a doctor and a Kuwaiti patient about the patient’s health and treatment plans.The report analyzes the practice and solves problems with a translating theory of Functional Equivalents. It is divided into four parts. Chapter one describes the whole task including introduction of Shijiazhuang Kidney Disease Hospital, clients of the medical workers and a patient, requirements for the interpreter. Chapter two is a process description covering pre-interpreting preparations, interpreting performances and post-interpreting summary. Medical terms are the most difficult part in the whole process. Chapter three analyzes cases, firstly analyzing inspirations and experiences, secondly summarizing problems and shortcomings, finally putting forward solutions. Chapter four is the practice summary.The author intends to analyze and summarize lessons and problems through the practice process in the report in order to lay a solid foundation for the interpreting work in the future.
