A Report On The Translation Of The Basic Regulations Of Oil Measurement Assurance

The text of the translation project THE BASIC REGULATIONS OF OIL MEASUREMENT ASSURANCE is writen by the Russian Federal State Unitary Enterprise- Russian Research Institute of flow measurement preparation(ФГУП ВНИИР), and used to replace the measurement instructions during oil transport.Take the translation project of THE BASIC REGULATIONS OF OIL MEASUREMENT ASSURANCE as an example, this report mainly explores the issuses of the specialized vocabularies, terms and sentences in Russian-Chinese manual translation, which includes the following problems, how to make translated vocabulary more standards with the help of computer-assisted translation tools; how to make translated technical terms equivalent with the original; how to achieve maximum original statement by splitting and integrating sentence groups and so on.Before starting the translation project, the author prepared the translation workflow and computer-assisted translation tools. By analysising the features on the levels of stylistic, lexical and syntactic of the text, the author defined the function and purpose of the translation project. In the process of the project, the author found some common problems in translating, and then summarized and analyzed them, for instance, the translation of abbreviations, amplication and ommision of words. The report is expected to be referiential to translators in technical translations.
