This is a report. The translation material is excerpted from a dissertation Mobile Learning in Higher Education of the University of Texas, published by UMI Dissertation Publishing in 2012. So far, the translator hasn’t found its Chinese version. This dissertation includes five chapters, the translator chose chapter four as the translation material, which is about fifteen thousand words. As an academic paper of mobile learning in higher education, it discusses the condition of mobile learning in higher education and shows the findings, which has a certain reference value for the administrator of university and implementer of mobile learning.In the translation report, the translator firstly describes its origin, background and contents, and then introduces the preparation for the translation such as reference materials, translation theory and skills etc. After careful analysis, the translator decides to choose Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory as guidance and also chooses other translation skills and methods in order to reveal the contents of the original text, such as omission, addition, transition and so on to analyze the examples, and then summarizes the translation practice.By translation, the translator has a lot of thoughts and benefits. Firstly, the translator should make a lot of preparation before translation, which is the basis of translation and the key of ensuring the quality of translation. Secondly, the translator uses repeated deliberation and calibration. At the same time, there are many shortcomings for the translator’s limited ability such as the translation of long sentences.
