The Pronunciation Study Of The Late Qing Dynasty Xiamen White Bible

This dissertation studied the phonetic system of Xiame. According on the dialect literatures written by foreign ministers in the late 19th century. Then we compare the phonetic system with the book called "Chinese-English Dictionary of the vernacular of Spoken Language of Amoy with the Priciple Variations of the Chang-chew and Chin-chew Dailects" written by Carstairs Douglas and the cotemporary rhyme books called "八音定诀".Moreover, we compared the phonetic system with Quanzhou and Zhangzhou dialects. On the one hand,we observated their evolution of the phonetic system over the last hundered years,on the other hand,to provide a basis for the book called "Lan e kiu-chu Ia-so ki-tok e sin-iok".
