An Interpreting Report On The Education Of Henan University During The Second Sino-Japanese War From CCTV, Exploration & Discovery

The report is based on the excerpt of one episode of the famous scientific and educational TV program, The Exploration & Discovery, which is The Education of Henan University during the second Sino-Japanese War. The task is aimed at oversea students and foreigners who would like to know more about the history of Henan University. The documentary lasts about 74 minute. It was released in September, 2012, the time during the Henan University Centenary Ceremony. By interviewing people from all walks of life, the documentary tries to restore the truth of history, that is, how Henan University kept running during the second Sino-Japanese War.As a communication tool, the essence of translation lies in the message transmission. In this report, the author use Skopotheorie as a theory support.Skopostheorie is the dominant theory of functionalist theory in German. According to skopotheorie, the overall translation action is decided by the translation purpose. Skopostheorie has three principles, namely, the skopo principle, the coherent principle and the faithful principle. Under the guidance of skopostherie, the author use translation strategies like split, merge, omission, addition and the combination of literal translation and free translation. The report includes five parts, that is, the description of the interpreting task, the interpreting process, the introduction of translation theory, the analysis of interpreting cases and the summary. Through this interpreting practice, the translator would get a better understanding on interpreting. With richer theory support and experience accumulation, It is good for the author’s further interpreting practice.
