The Study Of Color Words In Mo Yan’s Novels

In 2012, Mo Yan’s novel won the Nobel Prize in literature, which realized the Chinese "Nobel dream". We find that Mo Yan’s novels use a large number of color words and the scholars pay attention to these color words. The scholars mainly study the color imagery, aesthetic significance and played a role in expressing the theme of color words from the literature point in Mo Yan’s novels; the lexical meaning and rhetorical meaning of color words from the perspective of linguistics. This thesis analyses systematically Mo Yan’s novel the color words by using the method of statistics from the perspective of linguistics, pragmatics cognition and psychology on the basis of previous studies. I hope this elaboration can enrich the study of color words in literary works and promote the dynamic study of color words.The full text is divided into four parts: the first part is introduction; this part mainly introduces the research of the color words, especially about color words of Mo Yan’s novels at home and abroad and explains the methods, purpose and significance of this study. The second part is that this paper systematically sorts out the use of color words in Mo Yan’s novels adopting the statistical method from the perspective of research method and establishes the data chart related to the use. Summarizing the characteristics of the color words in Mo Yan’s novels based on a series of chart. The third part grasps unique significance of the color words in Mo Yan’s novels and analyses the color words semantics in the novels of Mo Yan with the related theory of semantics from the perspective of the language system point of view. The fourth part mainly launches establish context function and rhetorical function of two aspects of color words which start from the pragmatic perspective,elaborating the pragmatic value of the color words in his novels from this two aspects. The fifth part mainly analyses psychological mechanism of using color words in Mo Yan’s novels.
