The Imperial Examination System originated in Sui Dynasty. Instead of the Recommendatory System and Nine Rank System in the previous eras, Sui chose the new system in order to select and appoint better talents. As the developing and perfecting of the system in the rest of age, an increasing number of people saw a silver lining to change their fortune because of the fair selection. The Imperial Examination System influenced the empire in many aspects such as the politics, the economy, and the culture and so on, which was a very typical cultural phenomenon in China. Therefore, it is of great era and cultural significance to do research on the system.From Song dynasty to Ming dynasty, the system developed the most rapidly in Jiangxi where was celebrated for its culture and concentration of talents. Ten percent of the successful candidates in china were from Jiangxi, particularly in one of its County, Ji An. However, the system in Ji An has experienced a rapid decline from its peak during the Ming Dynasty. The decline gradually made Ji An fall behind other parts of Jiangxi. Some reasons, such as politics, economy and society contributed to the abnormal phenomenon, but the reason that influent the fact the most was the change of the Ideology. The talents show less interest in Imperial Examination by the influence of a new theory, The Mind Study by Ming-Yang Wang. Based on the extensive material collected, An objective research will be made in the paper to discovered the main reasons of the change of Imperial Examination in Ji An. What’s more, an outlook for the management of talents selection and education will be emerged from the window opened by the Imperial Examination system in Ming Dynasty.
