We all live in infinitely changeful natural and artificial color environment, the past research on color involved an unprecedented scale, such as physics, chemistry,art, physiology, psychology, sociology and so on. But researches on links between color and psychology are inadequate. Human’s emotional activity links with color,almost any color can influence our feeling, sensation, memory, imagination and emotion. So research on the preference for color and the links between color and emotion has vast importance.Based on this, this study select undergraduates’ preference for color and emotional experience as research subject, color emotional experience questionnaire and DEELES and color preference questionnaire as research tool, to examine the undergraduates’ color emotional experience, preference, and the relation between the two. This study is design to enrich researches on color preference and emotion, find the concrete relation between color preference and emotion, provide reference to laid the living and studying grounds for undergraduates, provide theory basis for using color preference to monitor emotional status.The result show that:1. Undergraduates’ emotional experience about nine color is that: red—exciting,happy; orange—joyful, exciting; yellow—joyful, comfortable; green—comfortable,joyful; blue—silent, comfortable; purple—detest, melancholy; gray——boring,melancholy; white—silent, sad; Black—sad, detest, fear.2. The order of undergraduate’ color preference is that: blue, green, yellow, white,red, orange, purple, black, gray. The color preference has definite gender differences,there is a clear distinction between boy’s and girl’s preferences about orange and purple have. There is an obvious distinction between their preferences about green and white.3. There is a obvious relation between color preference and emotional status, but not any color preference is related to emotional status, the different emotional status can not influence all the color preference. But there is a great infect on someemotional status and the appropriate color preference, we can predict how a man prefer a color through judging his emotional status.
