Idioms, phrases, proverbs and tongue twisters are used as descriptive language units, with a structure of relative fixity. Idioms are different from proverbs, and tongue twisters in nature are a relatively independent vocabulary unit. Idiomatic expressions with rich and vivid expressive effect are widespread among common folk. Often spoken with strong sense of style, vocabulary is rich with the Han ethnic group’s language composition and implication. Therefore, Chinese idioms are difficult for Thai learners. As a Thai student in China, I have a deep understanding of this. To overcome this obstacle, I’ve investigated and analyzed the errors made by college students acquiring Chinese idioms in northern Thailand. In the introduction of this article are the main reason for this topic and its significance, the scope of the study, research methods are described, presentation of Chinese idiom’s definition, origin meaning and structure (monolingual section phrase category), and syntactic features. Finally, I summarize the domestic and foreign researchers to further explore research on Chinese idioms and learner deficiencies. In the first chapter, the author designed an acquisition-related questionnaire primarily for students of Chinese and Thai idioms, and analyzed the statistical data. It was a selection of 46 Chinese idioms. In the northern region of Thailand, a university student questionnaire surveyed the Thai students’acquisition of Chinese idioms and tested conditions of bias.In the second chapter of this article is based on the statistical results of the questionnaire to further explore, summarize, and analyze the students’ acquisition of Chinese idioms and bias case. Data showed that the Thai students’ acquisition mistakes are mainly of written form, semantic understanding, syntactical structure, and pragmatically deal with four aspects. In the third chapter, the Thai students’acquisition of Chinese idioms and types of bias based on statistical data further study the reasons for errors. The generated research found that the Chinese idiom acquisition mistakes of college students in Thailand included negative reasons such as migration, cultural differences between Chinese and Thai, complexity of Chinese idioms, lack of Chinese language environment, Chinese learning material limitations interfering with the target language, conservative learner learning methods, students’ utilitarian attitude, Chinese teachers’teaching methods, and other reasons. In the fourth chapter, based on the research of the previous two chapters, the author of Teaching Chinese Idioms in Northern Thailand Universities made recommendations. Included are the way Chinese idioms are taught, proposal for teaching of Chinese idioms with a practical approach, and use of reproductive teaching methods, and idiom learning methods suggested by Thai students. The conclusion of this article goes on to further explore, summarize, and analyze the students’acquisition of Chinese idioms and bias conditions, and includes the full text of a systematic summary.
