A Study On Thai University Students’ Acquisition About "You A You B" Construction

The "you A you B" construction is one of the common constructions which shows the parallel relationship in Chinese,and it is also the parallel construction with the highest frequency of errors in the HSK dynamic composition corpus.There are also similar constructions in Thai language,such as:"(?)…(?)" and "(?)…(?)".Although the above-mentioned constructions can represent a parallel relationship,connecting adjectives or verb components,they are not equivalent actually.Based on comparative analysis,error analysis and interlanguage theory,this paper uses comparative analysis and questionnaire survey method to find out how the middle level and advanced level learners use "you A you B" construction,and also summarizes their types of errors in Kasetsat University Sakon Nakhon Campus.By comparison,we can know that the error rate of middle level learners is higher than advanced level,and they have more types of errors,such as mis-addition,misuse,mistaken,mis-order,and word-missing.However,Advanced level learners don’t have these three types:mis-additon,mistaken and word-missing.At the same time,we find out two sub-categories: "A and-A" and use the whole construction as predicate.Through the questionnaire survey,we further investigate the cognitive cognition and emotional factors of the two-level learners about the acquisition of this construction.Then we summarize the inner and outer factors respectively,and focuses on the negative factors from three aspects: the language itself,the learner’s internal factors and external environment for the two-level learners.Combined with the above influencing factors,we put forward specific teaching suggestions for these two-leavel learners.This will have a certain significance for the acquisition of this construction for the students in Kasetsat University Sakon Nakhon Campus in the future as a reference.
