The Influence Of Trait Anxiety On Decision-making: The Mechanism Of Expectations

With the study of decision-making being more mature, research on emotions and decision-making was gradually received more attention, however, the comprehensive research from the integrate perspective and empirical perspective was relatively deficient. Expectation, as one of the basic but important psychological function, has very significant influence on individual decision-making. This paper proceed with trait anxiety, attempt to thoroughly explore one of the influencing factors of the relationship between it and decision-making-expectation, whether the direction of research or the guidance of practice, this mechanical study can provide definite value.This research adopts the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory compiled by Spielberger and Iowa experiment programmed by Inquisit 3.0.2 software, having done experimental research into 283 junior graduate students. Results show that:1.The block effect is not significant, the participants did not display the study trend gradually.2.Decision-making has significant difference on gender, girls’ decision-making performance is significantly better than boys’; Decision-making has significant difference on expectation, the situation of low expectation’s decision-making is significantly better than that the situation of high expectation’s; Trait anxiety has not significant difference on gender. 3.The expectation’s moderating effect is significant,in another word, high or low expectation can impact the relationship between trait anxiety and decision-making, manifest that the higher value of expectation is, the greater negative effects the trait anxiety to decision-making come out. 4.At the same time, The expectation’s mediating effect is also significant,and as partial mediator variables, put another way, trait anxiety can indirectly forecast decision_making through expectation.Revelation from the conclusion of experiment is that, when the student is anxious individual or susceptible anxiety,not to achieve the aim of stimulating learning motivation and improving study result,by means of exerting extremely high expectation on students, especially in the situation of complex learning task or important exam, this just at cross purpose. At that time, creating relaxed and peaceful competition atmosphere, cultivating positive and steady state of mind is quite necessary.
