Narrative Research On Female Normal College Students Professional Development

From the development of modern teaching theory, in today’s educational circle, we have a common understanding on teachers’ pre-service education, especially normal students’ college education:their pre-service education and post-service education should maintain continuity. Furthermore, college education is aimed at providing basic education for the development of in-service teachers. So it is an important thing to study the professional development of normal students, it also an important part in the professional development of teachers. Whether they have firm career aspirations, qualified professional ability and knowledge, clear needs of self-professional development or not directly influence the professional development of teachers. Therefore, it is an important task to promote the professional knowledge and skills of normal students and cultivate more qualified teachers.As a normal student of pre-service education, we should discipline ourselves in accordance with the standards of teachers’ professional development at school, we should make any efforts to improve our own professional development so as to become a qualified teacher. So, this paper explores how do female normal students conduct their professional development, and which factors and strategies impact on their development in the process of their growth and development.By using qualitative research methodology, this paper selected case study and narrative study as its concrete form of expression. Through my own experience and reflection, three female normal student A,B,C who major in Chinese in different grades are studied, the paper prefer to show and explain their studying life rather than confirm any certain results and theory.On the basis of collecting research data, this paper takes five dimensions of teacher’s professional development which are proposed by Bai Yimin as evidence:education belief, professional knowledge, professional ability, professional attitude and motivation, needs and consciousness of self professional development, and use this as a horizontal coordinate. In addition, the paper takes three stages of pre-service teachers’ professional development which are proposed by Liu Jie as a vertical coordinate, and shows the process of these three females’ pre-service professional development by way of narrating. At the same time, the paper analyzes the internal and external factors affecting their pre-service teachers’ professional development and sums up their growth experience and puts forward strategies to promote their professional development.This paper consists three parts:introduction, text and conclusion. The textual material is composed of four chapters.The introduction focuses on issues related to the research origin, research ideas, research methods, research objects and research data, and conduct a literature review to the professional development of both in-service teachers at home and abroad and pre-service teachers.The first chapter mainly summarizes some key concepts of the professional development of teachers and female normal students; at the same time discusses the theory of pre-service teachers’professional development. This section is the theoretical basis of this study.The second chapter is divided into three sections:"after I grow up, I have become you", "my dream to be a teacher" and "searching for him in the crowds for thousand time". they respectively describes pre-service professional development of female normal students who major in Chinese and makes explanatory understanding and analysis.Each section mainly follows "educational belief, professional attitude and motivation, mastery of professional knowledge, improvement of professional skills, needs and consciousness of self-professional development". the paper also makes a further presentation and explanation on the story and process of the professional development of female normal students who major in Chinese as well as dissect the current situation about pre-service teachers’ professional development.In the third chapter,based on the professional development process of three female normal students and five pre-service development from parallel dimension, this part analyzes the internal and external factors affecting their pre-service development from parallel dimension.What’s more, it takes three stages of Liu Jie--exploring period,growing period,mature period as a vertical coordinate,and summarizes the experience s of their professional development from vertical dimension. In the horizontal components which influence their pre-service teacher’s professional development,the internal factors includes subjective experience,life experience, personality.education belief,professional attitude and motivation, needs and consciousness of self-professional development as well as rethinking consciousness; the external factors includes school environment, family factors, teachers’status and treatment,etc.The fourth chapter mainly focus on strategies to promote the professional development of female normal students.through the analysis of the story and influencing factors on female normal students’professional development,the paper aims at promoting their professional development in five aspects:enhance education belief and attitude as well as specify motivation; pay attention to needs and consciousness of self-professional development; reform practical curriculum provision; strengthen literacy education of female college students;protrude female education; reinforce the construction of female teachers; exert the role model of female teachers.The conclusion part concludes the whole paper and emphasizes the research significance and purpose towards the professional development of female normal students.
