On fourteenth, November, 1902, Yang Yulin and Huangxin, the students from Hunan who studied in Japan, sponsored the《Language Translation Series》, which was the first journal started in the name of the province within the students studying in Japan in this period.The aim of this journal is to introduce the advanced chuture and improve the knowledge of people in country. And introduce the advanced western culture to our country. The journal is mainly about compilation at first, later it published some articles and reviews. The starting of the 《Language Translation Series》drives the development of journal among the students studying in Japan at the same period. What’s more, it played the role of leading the thoughts of starting the journal and the management, which exerted great impact in the world of new knowledge in the year of 1903.This paper mainly is about 《Language Translation Series》and learn about the approach of spreading Western thoughts in the students studying in Japan. The purpose is to evaluate the role of the journals and the groups in Japan in the late Qing Dynasty. This paper is mainly divided into three chapters:The first chapter mainly introduce the founding of the 《Language Translation Series》 and its management. The students from Hunan were all headed for Japan, which provided rich human resources for the founding and development of the 《Language Translation Series》. Through the introduction of the founding and its purport; distribution and operating management, as well as Hunan compiling agency, in order to have a better understanding of the 《Language Translation Series》.The second chapter focuses on the 《Language Translation Series》 and the spread of Western culture. By analyzing the main content of the 《Language Translation Series》to learn the introduction of modern Western scholarship, history and education and so on. Besides, through the advertisements published on the 《Language Translation Series》to analyze the spread of the Western culture of this period.The third chapter mainly explores the influence of the 《Language Translation Series》, which played an obvious leading role on the journals of association at the time and had an impact on civil societyConclusion part is the summary of the paper and the comment of the 《Language Translation Series》.
