The translation project comes from Ancient Sichuan:Treasures from a Lost Civilization. It is composed in the form of translation report and written based on Introduction Part One of this book, which mainly accounts amazing discoveries at Sanxingdui and archaeological findings in Sichuan province.Under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology theory, the translator starts from analyzing linguistic features and text functions, and then elaborates translation theory and corresponding translation methods in detail. In the translation, the translator adopts such translation methods as Amplification, Conversion, Transliteration, Inversion, Voice Shifting and Restructuring, and then analyzes the cases selected from the translation text and summaries the translation problems in order to upgrade the quality of translated versions and provide some references for the translation of this kind of texts. The translation report lists some shortcomings in the translation process, from which the translator will strive to find a resolution in the future.The structure of this report is as follows. The first chapter is task description, in which the translator introduces the source of the translation project, the authors,the book and the task of this translation project; the second chapter is translation theory; the third chapter is translation procedures, including translation preparation and difficulties encountered in the translation; the fourth chapter is case analysis, which is the main part of this translation report; and the last chapter is the conclusion of this translation report.
