Lexical fuzziness is an essential attribute in legal language, which can not be ignored in the translation of legal texts. This translation report uses West Nutshell Series—Contracts as the source material. In the process of translating the material, the author finds that there are a large number of fuzzy words. Since fuzzy words play an important part in legal documents, this translation report chooses Chapter One of West Nutshell Series—Contracts to discuss the translation methods of fuzzy words. The report explores such translation methods or techniques as literal translation, free translation, amplification and omission in translating fuzzy adjectives, fuzzy adverbs, fuzzy nouns, fuzzy conjunctions in the source material.
