conscience,as an important educational topic, constitutes as an indispensable part for both Chinese traditional cultural psychology and moral psychology. My research was made destined to see through the conscience state quo and its process developed of our middle school students, and through which,to provide constructional advices for their improvement in conscience. This study made a customized questionnaire,by mirroring Lianping Zeng’s conscience questionnaire for teenager, the Early Adolescent Temperament Questionnaire-Revised written by Ellis & Rothbart as well as Jiang Jiang’s Short-Egma Minnen av Bardndosna Uppforstran(Chinese version), a total of 700, for students from seventh grade to senior in high school both in Hunan and Guizhou provinces. My views are as follows based on 674 valid questionnaires, 306 for male and 277 for female.1. In general, middle school student’s conscience level ranked at above average with their consciousness of integrity, responsibility and compassion at the highest level and adjoin appreciation, moral sense,etc.2. No matter to take conscience as a whole or see through it from different layers, gaps exist in female and male, lower grade and high grade, with both the former higher than the latter. But such gap seems not appeared in different areas or to children oneself or be with their siblings.3. The higher extent a student can control his will, fell open to the outside world and has sense of belongings, the much more he or she would enjoy the possibility of standing at high level of consciousness.4. The much more a student can feel love from his or her parents, the higher extent he or she would enjoy the possibility of standing at high level of consciousness.5. The study also suggests an interactive effect of temperament and parenting on middle school student’s conscience. As moderator variable, the open temperament would highlight mother’s role to the conscience development of middle school students.
