The Relationship Between Conscience And Self-control Of Middle School Students:Moderator Role Of Parenting Style

Objective:The purpose of this study was to investigate how the middle school students' conscience and parenting style influence their self-control and to find the relationship among conscience,parenting style and self-control.And also,to illustrate what kind of role parenting style played in the relationship of conscience and self-control.Methods:This study used Middle school students'Self-Control questionnaire which was made by Wang Hong jiao in 2003,Adolescence Conscience questionnaire which was made by Qiu Xiaoyan in 2016,and S-EMBU-C which was revised by Jiang Jiang in 2010.600 students of two middle school in Changsha were chose.Finally,566 questionnaires were recovered effectively.Results:(1)Generally,middle school student' conscience level above average at present.There are significant differences among students' conscience level on gender and grade.(2)Correlation analysis showed that all the dimensions of conscience and self-control are significant correlative.All the dimensions of self-control are significant correlative with parenting style.Three dimensions of conscience are significant with parenting style.(3)Regression analysis showed that conscience is a positive predictor of self-control.Compassion,honesty,responsibility,right and wrong,and forgiveness can positively predict self-control.Fathers'refusal can negatively predict self-control.(4)Conscience and parenting style exert an interactive influence on middle students' self-control.As a moderator variable,mothers'warmth affection positively moderate the relationship of responsibility which is a dimension of conscience and self-control.Conclusion:(1)There is a significant correlation between middle school students ' conscience and self-control,and conscience can positively predict self-control.(2)There is a significant correlation between middle school students'parenting style and self-control,and fathers' refusal can nagetively predict self-control.(3)Conscience and parenting style exert an interactive influence on middle students'self-control.Mothers' warmth affection positively moderate the relationship between responsibility which is a dimension of conscience and self-control.
