The recent relations between China and Indonesia continue to rise. The closerbilateral relations between the two countries due to social, economics, politics andculture relations increased. With the enhancement of bilateral relations, cooperationin education relationship is also getting stronger. Day by day the Indonesian studentsstudy in China continually increasing. Lately China’s schools and Indonesia’s schoolscooperation also increased. Increasingly Indonesian citizen knows more Chinaschools. This thesis wants to compere the name of China’s and Indonesia’s highereducation schools.The name is a very important thing, because it can be a symbol of the identityof the object. As an example: a company’s brand name for them is very important.Brand name and logo is a symbol that can differentiate their products or services withother competitors. School name is the same thing. School name and logo is a symbolof distinction and make other schools.Usually university school name created not by only one word, it generallyconsists of two or more words created. In Indonesia, there are certain wordsstructures the name of our school. Basically, there are several words structures, forexamples: place name+institution level, place name+discipline name+institutionlevel, discipline name+institution level, country name+discipline name+institution level, people name+institution level, people name+discipline name+institution level, specific cultural name+discipline name+institution level,specific cultural name+discipline name+institution level etc. Aside from wordstructures, cultural characteristics also one of themost influence factors. China andIndonesia, both countries have own country’s unique cultural identity, Chinauniversities have some dominant features school name, such as showing thegeographical location, and Indonesian universities name has a rich cultural terms.
