A Study On The Rare Characters Of Place Names In The Great Dictionary Of Place Names Of The People’s Republic Of China

The geographical and remote characters of place-names are grouped together,their distribution reflects the division of historical,cultural areas,geographical cultural areas and dialect areas.Due to the limited scope of application,its form,sound and meaning all have a certain degree of randomness,so there are a large number of self-created characters,dialect characters,ancient characters and other non-standard characters,resulting in the confusion of place name writing,greatly hindering the process of language standardization and place name standardization.Among the existing researches on the characters used in place names,there are abundant achievements in the researches on the characters used in place names,but most of them are based on the examination and interpretation of the characters used in some geographical names or the words used in a certain region,there are no extensive researches on the characters used in place names in the whole country.This selected subject Collates the rare characters of placenames in the Great Dictionary of Placenames of the People’s Republic of China as the research object,then chooses the characters beyond the 8105 characters in the Table of General Standard Chinese characters,then classifies and investigates them one by one.This paper is divided into five parts: first of all is the introduction,It describes the reason of the selected subject,the significance of selected subject,the status of selected subjec,the method and content of selected subjec.The second part introduces the general situation of the "Dictionary of Placenomen of the People’s Republic of China",and describes the general situation of the characters from the three aspects of political area and residential area,natural entity and artificial building,and summarizes the geographical distribution of the characters.In the part three,the rare characters of placenames in the Dictionary of Placenames of the People’s Republic of China are classified according to different kinds.The part four describes the location of recording the sound and meaning of the remote words of place names.More than 180 remote words of place names are collected in the form of table.If the meaning of remote words cannot be verified,the meaning is unknown.The fifth part is the conclusion.
