Study On Protection And Revitalization Of Historical And Cultural Blocks

Historical and cultural blocks are not only records the pace of the city’s development, but also reflects the city’s unique cultural characteristics. However, with the urbanization process, the historical and cultural blocks are faced with major challenges. Unlike the protection of historical sites, The historical and cultural blocks must pay attention to improve the resident’s living standard. With the author’s work and study experiences, who selected the Saishanglaojie street of Hohhot to investigate the experiences of protection and revitalization.This paper first analyzes the main problems and challenges of historical and cultural blocks in the urbanization process. Second,the author take some typical historical and cultural blocks for example and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages. Finally,the author selected the Saishanglaojie street of Hohhot,to analyzes the street’s structure, history, cultural characteristics economic and other aspects in order to make some revitalization strategies.
