Practice Report On The Translation Of Six Pieces Of News Review

This practice report is on my translation of six English News Reviews authorized by the Zhongyiyueer Translation Ltd. The company put forward specific requirements in translation quality and completion time. I completed the task of translation on schedule. The editor in charge of this task thought that my translation is basically faithful and smooth in language, but it needs to be improved on levels of both wording and composition.The practice report is an introduction,analysis and summarization of the implementation process and the completion situation of my translation task. It mainly consists of five parts including task description, process description, translation preparation, case analysis and practical summary. In the task description and process description, I make a brief introduction on the nature of the texts, the main content and task requirements and make a summary presentation of the process of translation preparation, conduction and proofreading. In the translation preparation section, more detailed analysis is made of the stylistic features of the original texts, and the characteristics of news translation. Besides, the needed translation tools are also listed one by one. Case analysis is the core part of the practice report of translation in which the specific examples are analyzed on the levels of words, sentences, figures of speech and style and on the basis of the translation principles of faithfulness, clearness and coherence. In other words, the translation quality of the samples is tested according to the implementation of translation principles and the employment of translation skills in the translation process.Through the translation practice I realize that translation is a matter of the appropriateness of the target language, in which is constructed the situation equivalent to the original language. Accordingly, training and development of translation skills should be carried out by learning basic theoretical knowledge and basic translation skills. News translators in particular must keep improving themselves in the use of language and cultivating themselves in culture in order to arm themselves with the true skill and genuine knowledge of “doing well in Chinese” and “doing well in English.”...
