A Translation Project Management Report Of Railway Sci-tech Materials

Quality assurance plays an important role in translation project management. Improving the quality of the translation project through effective means is the goal of every project manager. With the rapid development of the translation industry and the transformation of schema, railway sci-tech translation are demanded. The quality of railway sci-tech translation project is becoming more and more significant. Railway sci-tech English not only embraces the characteristics of general EST (English for Science and Technology) but also displays its own academic features which greatly aggravated the difficulty of quality control of project manager.This report is based on the translation project of railway sci-tech materials commissioned by ⅩⅩⅩ Group. The author presents the translation process by specifically introducing how to make an early schedule, choose translators, arrange tasks, make term database, utilize tools, revise and so on. As the translation project manager, the author deals with problems during the management process, especially on quality control. As a modest spur for future research, this paper also discusses ways to make terms and translation style consistent and tries to make a Style Guide to assure the quality of translation.
