In reseerching Chinese charactore and culture, it also has a very high value.Just because of its high value in the academle history,its in-depth rsearch is even more necessary.Study on the radicals in Shuowen will help us bulld a complete system for each radical,thus we can dig the value they reveal on the Hngulstlcs and historle culture more deeply.Hand has an extraordinary algnificance for humans that is curclal in the history of human avolutionary development.Taking ’hand’and all character radlcals related to ’hand’in shuowen as object,This paper through classlfying semantic constructs ti bulld a relatlvely complete maaning system of hand.By analyzing shape structure and changes in llteral meaning,the paper explore the relation between the form and the meaning and the changes of hand and varlous radicals. Thls artlclo is divided inti four parts,the first part is defining the research cintent to determine the soope of the study. In terms of540radicals in Shuowen, the characters thatassociated with ‘hand’ are280for total. The second part uses thesix categories of Chinese characters to analyze shape structure andcount the proportion of pictographic characters, self-explanatorycharacters, associative compounds and pictophonetic characters.According to the basis of semantic classification, the third partdivides all the characters into three class: the physiology of hand,the pattern of hand and the movements of hand,and the last classis the most important one. The fourth part mainly analyzes thedevelopment and evolution in two aspects of the use and meaning ofhand and various radicals, to investigate its demise and passcurrent situation and changes in meaning. |
