This essay had a study on the Early Chinese Mirrors, which is a kindof artifact distributed in China in Bronze Age. Firstly, the mirrors aregenerally divided into two categories according to the holdingstyle, including snapped mirrors, handle mirrors. Meanwhile, we combinedthe archaeological culture and the development rules and the shapeevolution of each type. There are four phases: before the late ShangDynasty, the late Shang Dynasty, the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Spring&Autumn period, then we can get the knowledge of a longitudinaldevelopment. Secondly, we observed the distribution of the mirrors anddiscussed the communication and transmission among different cultures. And then, we discussed the function of the mirrors and the relationshipbetween mirrors and Yangsui(bronze concave mirrors used for firing). Finally, we discussed the origin of the mirrors for the differentcharacteristics. One type could come from the handle mirrors of WesternAsia, and another type has a strong and complicated relationship with thearea of Xinjiang, and we’d better turn our eyes on the district west ofXinjiang to solve the problem eventually.
