Diversity and economic development are both significant issues not only inChina but all around the world nowadays. The relationship between diversity andeconomic development has been a topic of debate for nearly one century and a half.The United States is a typical representative of diversity. The United States ofAmerica, by definition, is one of the world’s most ethnically diverse andmulticultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries.Meanwhile, the US economy is highly developed, and the economic scale ranks firstin the world for long time. It is the world’s most important economy which plays avery important role in the world·s economy. With the reform and opening up as wellas national unity, diversity in China is becoming more and more outstanding inChina. How to maximize the potential benefits of diversity and minimize thedrawbacks is the key issue to resolve for us. Due to the disadvantage of being latestarters and the deficiency of experience on handling the diversity issue, we shouldlearn and borrow some advanced experience on how to deal with the relationshipbetween diversity and economic development.This is a report about consecutive interpretation of a video summit plenary. Asthe interpreter in the simulated practice interpretation, the process and the result ofsimulation are regarded as a research subject. After the simulated interpreting, theauthor collated and wrote down the source text and consecutive interpreting textaccording to the video and records. The report is mainly devoted to explore thesolutions and corresponding translation skills to resolve the problems and difficultiesduring the interpretation and provide a reference for further interpretation.The thesis is a practice interpretation. Its first chapter introduces thebackground information,task·s requirement and significance of the interpretationtask. The second chapter mainly describes the preparation before starting interpreting, the author·s expected results and the quality of practical interpretation. The thirdchapter focuses on the analysis of problems and difficulties appeared in the processof interpretation and figures out the reasons. In the last chapter, the authorsummarizes the gains in the simulated interpretation and provides some advice ofconsecutive interpretation for experience exchanges.
