For foreign students, non-interrogative function of interrogative pronoun is adifficult language point in Chinese learning and has been frequently employed inChinese conversations, which cause the research of the non-interrogative function ofinterrogative pronoun as the most required study. The research will provide morepracticable advice and some teaching strategies in today’s field of TCSL.The dissertation can be divided into five parts. The first part gives a briefintroduction of the research reason and significance, the object and scope of study,and corpus sources. In the part research methods and a review of similar researchesare presentedThe second part is the theoretical support for non-interrogative function ofinterrogative pronoun research. There are specific classifications and summaries oftypical interrogative pronoun, including the non-interrogative usage of “what”,“who”,“where” and “how”.The third part is examples of errors and mistakes made by students fromEnglish speaking country, who have been studying non-interrogative function ofinterrogative pronoun. Analyzing the linguistic materials from CCL Corpus ofPeking University and HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus, I try to explain thereasons and causes of such errors and mistakes.The fourth part is advice and teaching strategies of non-interrogative function ofinterrogative pronoun on the basis of analysis in the research. Try to developspecialized teaching design for Arbitrary reference、Virtual means and negative. Inorder to provide some valuable advice for teaching of grammar points.Finally, this research, with its concentration on how non-interrogative functionof interrogative pronoun improperly works and analysis of the errors in using interrogative pronoun, hopes to offer advice and teaching strategies to Chinesescholars as well as to foreign learners for a better understanding not only onnon-interrogative function of interrogative pronoun but also on how to avoid theerrors in Chinese learning. However, language is erudite and intelligent. It isimpossible to explain special usage of a language just by a few examples orlinguistic materials. To understand the non-interrogative function of interrogativepronoun requires more hard work and intensive investigations.
