Study On Tokens Of The Liao Dynasty

This paper mainly studied the tokens system of the Liao Dynasty,"symbols" and "brands" were collectively called "tokens" in the Liao, this "symbols "and "brands "were used at the same time in the Liao, it was called the tokens system, this system was as a kind of political system,maintaining the Qidan’s rule,strengthening the imperialrule, maintaining the national security and impressing the relationship between the centeral and the local, forces and governing. The Qidan ruled northern china,the creation of the character tokens system and the dominant way influenced the Jin and Yuan dynasty rulers of minority’s ruling way. The first part of this paper mainly introduced the tallies of the Liao Dynasty system from the early development of the formal formation and improvement, in the early time of Qidan, they used symbols, and then in the Yaonianshi’s time they used wood symbols, Taizu’s time they used gold fish symbols and siliver brands, and also used gold brands; the second part introduced various tallies of the Liao tokens’style,function,management and preservation,mainly itroduced the gold brands,the siliver brands and their manangers;the third part summarized the Liao tokens’characteristics, and tallies of the Liao tokens system’s influence, tokens characteristics:used at the same time, a signfunction refinement, high efficiency, and effected the jin and yuan tokens’system.
