In more than200years, the Liao Dynasty left plenty of the gold and silver relics.Based on archaeological data of gold and silver wares in the Liao Dynasty, The paperdoes desearch from the following six aspects.Chapter one is introduction. This chapter account for the object, the coverage, Italso illustrates the significance and purpose of research, the research method anddeficiency of writing.Chapter two is the discovery and research of the gold and sliver of the LiaoDynasty. It mainly summarize the research history of the wares, divided the researchhistory into three stages. The three stages are the data accumulation stage, thedevelopment stage and the mature stage. The chapter review and summarize the tombsunearthed situation and research status of the three stages in detail.Chapter three focus on the types and combinations of gold and sliver wares. Itdistributed the wares into five categories: the human body adornment, tools, harness,containers, and funerary couches. It does a more detailed study and discusses thecombinational relationships of the sixty subclasses which divided from the fivecategories. It demonstrates the pictures and texts of the ware’s archaeologicalmaterials.Chapter four exhibits the features of the gold and sliver wares of the Liao Dynastyin various periods. There are three aspects to show the features. First are the periodicchanges of the fractional evolutions and numbers of wares. Second are the proportionchanges of the gold, silver, gilt bronze wares. Third are the number changes of thehuman body adornment, tools, harness, containers and funerary couches, then choosesome typical tombs to make a concrete analysis from early middle and late threeperiods.Chapter five analyzes the cultural constitution of the wares. The cultural factors ofthe gold and sliver wares consist of the Khitan culture, the Tang and Song Dynastyculture, the Buddhism and Taoism cultural, the Western Regions culture and Xianbeiculture. Some of the human body adornment, tools and funerary couches show the Khitan culture. Then compare the vessel shape and emblazonry of the gold and sliverwares of the Liao Dynasty and the wares of the Tang Dynasty. It also analyzes the localinfluence of the new shape of the Song Dynasty. Buddhism and Taoism cultural factorsare also reflected in the gold and silver wares of the Liao Dynasty.Contrasting withHu culture which contains the Turkic, Sogdian and Islamic culture, finally the Xianbeiculture as similar with Khitan culture is the important relevance.Chapter six is the artistic style of the gold and sliver wares of the Liao Dynasty.First the chapter analyzes the craftsmanship of the wares, then draws a conclusion thatthe dragon and phoenix design are the important emblazonry. Finally, it investigatesthe modeling technique and the layout design of the wares.Chapter seven is the epilogue. It contains the summary of the paper.
