China’s development as a multi-ethnic, multi religious country, is now in the social transition period--from rural society based on natural economy to urban community change based on market economy. Ethnic composition and temple of heaven in the northwest region is more complex, more active in religious activities. Tibetan Buddhism is an important part of the surrounding people’s life, it is directly related to the local social and economic, cultural, political development, also affect China as a multi-ethnic country social stability and national unity.Through the interview and investigation of the monks of Tiantang Temple and the surrounding communities in Tianzhu County of Gansu Province, by comparison, quantitative analysis revealed multiple ethnic villages under the influence of Tibetan Buddhism influence social situation, which focuses on revealing the cultural power structure, on the surrounding villages of Tibetan Buddhist temples, ethnic distribution, economic development in four aspects. On the other hand, the history development of Tiantang Temple, textual research of several influencing factors of multi ethnic mixed community on the scale of the temple, a temple monks, income, social activities, focusing on the influence the development of traditional Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the background of the two transformation of rural urbanization and natural economy to a market economy.Through the study of the above two aspects, the author found that Tiantang Temple as the Northwest China is located in the remote Township in the Tibetan Buddhist temple, the economic income, method, monks in the aspects of activities by the local social development level of the control at the same time, the monastery is also actively looking for its social role.
