Chekhov is not only an important 19th-century critical realism writer in Russian literature, but also a great drama innovator. In Chekhov’s creation, there is a deep and complex kind of novels which hit the social reality. That is his "spiritual pathology fiction." This paper selects the most representative one Ward No.6. Ward No.6 is Chekhov’s transformation after traveling to Sakhalin, the transformation of the creative ideas and his writing style. This paper tries to analyze the writing of the disease types and artistic style to reveal the metaphor behind the writing of disease and the pursuit of value.The text consists of three parts:introduction, four chapters and conclusion. In the introduction part, introduces Chekhov’s special occupation that both a doctor and a lifelong writer. Special identity and experience with his love on psychology, pathology, gave birth to the birth of "psychopathology" novels series. Ward No.6 is one of a representative. This paper belongs to interdisciplinary research, the research respective is relatively new. It provides a way to observe the Russian society through the disease writing. This paper makes up the Ward No.6 and even some of the deficiencies and gaps in the study of Chinese Chekhov.The first chapter consists of four sections. This chapter focuses on the type of writing of the disease. The first three sections describe paranoia disorder Gromov, personality disorders Nikita, schizophrenic Latin. The fourth section briefly describes the symptoms of other patients in the ward. Chekhov’s appropriate level of detail depicts different "mental illness" on different characters of Ward No.6. The tragic fate of the characters is a reflection of social reality.The second chapter consists of four sections. This chapter focuses on the artistic style of Ward No.6 in disease writing. Chekhov chooses a common madhouse and the group of little people, but digging social reality and the deepest darkness through them. His simple language makes the novel more expressive, it is intended to infinity. His calm and objective attitude makes you can not see his feelings in the novel, but to read it emotionally, emotional agitation. His humor sometimes ironic sometimes sad, not only makes people laugh, but makes one sad.The third chapter is made up of four sections. It focuses on metaphorical meaning behind the writing of the disease. In the first section, Chekhov writes from the small ward to "society" the big ward, performing the psychiatric hospitals tend of the whole community. Only when individuals get treatment, society will get rid of disease. The second section discusses the disease which is of political significance, is the rational and irrational struggle. Patients who fail irrational madness, it is also the loss of power. The third section shows the normal social moral climate to us, namely moral depravity. However, in such a dirty environment, Latin has realized his confession and redemption. Fourth quarter performs the harmful of society vulgar culture to the intellectuals. The writer calls for a "culture" to shake the intrinsic cultural value system.The fourth chapter is made up of three sections. The author mainly discusses the value pursuit of the writing of the disease. The traditional researches mostly from the criticism of society, but in this paper, this novel also reflects Chekhov’s dual attention to individual both on physical presence and mental existence. At the same time, the novel also shows the situation of a lack of ethics, ethical anomie. The author wishes to express the demand of the reconstruction of ethical order through the novel.The conclusion derives from the Ward No.6 to Chekhov "psychopathology novel" series. Chekhov in each novel through disease writing to show us some mental health patients, and explores the causes of the characters of mental illness, to convey his satirical criticism of society with the using of metaphor. Chekhov’s disease writing not only belongs to Russia, but also has a far-reaching on China contemporary literature. Many writers create a wonderful text under the influence of Chekhov. Today, the relationship between medical and literary remains closed, we should have a more open mind to study Chekhov.
