Foreign History Spread In Modern China

In the late Qing Dynasty,China was forced to open.At the same time, Western knowledge began to spread in China. As an important part of Western knowledge, Foreign history also had a profound impact in China. In the communication process, the foreign history’s content gradually contaceed with the goal of national salvation which was Chinese most urgent misson at that time.The patriotic intellectuals used foreign history to demonstrate their views and criticize social evil of the day. The foreign History played an important role in arousing people’s patriotism.The spread of foreign history not noly caused strong social effects but also provided a new reference for the Chinese traditional historiography to promote its update.While, as an important carrier of Foreign History, modern periodicals faithfully reflected the spread of Foreign history in China’s development process as a mirror. Through the study of the content of Foreign History in modern periodicals,we can be aware of the tendencious emphasis of Foreign historythe ‘s contents dissemination in the different periods,and then,we can summarize the spread’s characteristic of different periods.The article make up of five chapters. The first chapter discusses the background of the late Qing Dynasty on spreading foreign history from society, ideology and culture,and described the the generation and development of modern periodicals.
