China and North Korea face each other across the river and are connected by mountains and rivers. The two places have had frequent economic, cultural and political exchanges since ancient times. The Joseon Dynasty has a large number of documents recording Chinese history and the relationship between the two countries. In modern times, the capitalist powers invaded East Asia, and the two countries have experienced changes that have not been seen in a thousand years.Although they were invaded, they have also moved towards modernization to varying degrees.New-style newspapers appeared in the Joseon Dynasty. These newspapers reported a lot of content about China. This article will analyze these reports to explore the history of China’s late Qing Dynasty and the relationship between China and North Korea from the perspective of the newstyle newspapers of the Joseon Dynasty.During the Westernization Movement, the Joseon Dynasty newspapers generally tended to be "pro-China" seeking the blessings of the Qing Dynasty. The report in the"Seoul Xunbao" reflected that although there were some shortcomings in the development of the Westernization Movement,it was in training new-style talents, establishing military factories, and telegraph Great progress has been made in manufacturing new weapons. In 1881,the Joseon Dynasty sent Jin Yunzhi Tianjin to lead China to learn the experience of the Westernization Movement. The telegraph industry involved in the national economy and the people’s livelihood in the Westernization Movement flourished and was successfully used in the Sino-French war military newspaper transmission. This also laid the foundation for the Qing Dynasty to lay the telegraph lines in North Korea in the future.During the Sino-French War,France contained the Qing forces in the south.Japan and the pro-Japanese radical civilized faction in North Korea launched the Jiashen coup. The domestic turmoil indirectly forced the Qing Dynasty to compromise in the Sino-French War.North Korea’s first new-style newspaper " The "Seoul Xunbao" was also burned in the coup d’etat and stopped. After the Sino-Japanese War of Jiawu, the Qing Dynasty was defeated and North Korea gained independence in name.It urgently needed to change its image as a weak and small vassal state to independence.During this period, the newspapers of the Joseon Dynasty had a clear tendency to "anti-China"."Independent News" was the vanguard of anti-China during this period. In its reports,it completely denied "Qing Dynasty","Qing Dynasty people" and "Chinese culture".During the New Deal period of the late Qing Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty carried out more comprehensive reforms in politics, economy, culture, and social life, and the country presented a new atmosphere of reform and progress.During this period,Japan continued to intensify its aggression against North Korea. At this time, the Joseon Dynasty newspapers changed their attitude towards China."Imperial City News" praised the achievements of the New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty, and once again recognized Chinese culture and sought cooperation with the Qing Dynasty.,Joseon Dynasty’s newspapers constantly promoted the strategy of "Alliance against Japan".From the new-style newspapers in the late Joseon Dynasty,we can see that news media reports are not only a barometer of national conditions, but also a catalyst that can affect the relations between the two countries.
