Drawing from attribution theory of leadership, we conceptualize team member-attribution(team member-attributed performance promotion motives and team member-attributed injury initiation motives) as a mediator and leadership vision as a contextual moderator for exploring the role of leadership proactive personality in organizational citizenship behavior. Data from a sample of 241 Chinese employees were used to examine the hypothesized moderated mediation models. Results showed that:(1) leadership proactive personality had a significant positive effect on OCB;(2)leadership proactive personality was associated with team members’ attributions for the motives behind their own supervisors’ supervision(performance-promotion and injury-initiation motives); in turn, the team members’ attributions for the motives behind their own supervisors’ supervision was associated with organizational citizenship behaviors;(3) additionally, the relationship between leadership proactive personality and organizational citizenship behavior was positively moderated by leadership vision.
