Collaborative Translation With Merely Nonprofessional Collaborative Translation Platforms

The global increasing frequent communication in culture and economy is boosting the translation demands. Nowadays, translation projects with tens of thousands of words needing translating within several days are not rare. Therefore, traditional translation mode in which a single translator holds responsibility for a whole project is encountering more limits due to its low efficiency. Compared with the former mode, Collaborative Translation (CT) apparently suits more to the current time because of its huge efficiency as a whole improved by collaborative translation conducted by a team of translators. From this perspective, the significance of CT is more and more obvious. However, the study on CT has not seen considerable number. Among those insufficient studies, those on CT with merely nonprofessional CT platforms, which are popular and critical in the market, were outnumbered by those with professional CT platforms. This thesis is to study CT, especially the sort with merely nonprofessional CT platforms.In Chapter one, the importance of CA in current age and is introduced and the existed studies and researches on CT have been reviewed. In Chapter two CT is generally introduced. Chapter three focuses on the introduction of CT with merely nonprofessional CT platforms. While in Chapter four, this mode of CT with merely nonprofessional CT platforms is analyzed and elaborated from the perspectives of the involving roles, including project manager (PM), collaborative translators, proof readers, etc.based on some practical projects of CT especially the one concerning "The Impact of 3D Animation Technology on Life". Finally in Chapter 5, the practice of CT is summarized; the trend of CA with merely nonprofessional CT platforms is predicted; some suggestions for the reference of people conducting such translation mode are put forward.
