Liu Zhi is a great Hui scholar in Qing dynasty. As a muslin with firm relief, he responded to the problems of his era. With fearless academic courage he tried to make Islam localized. He absorbed Chinese traditional philosophy and provided a new angle of view and method in national theoretical interpretation, which is, he wrote in Chinese and used the orthodox Confucian official term to express Islam and build spirit world for Chinese hui muslim. This will inspire us how to make use of Chinese interpretation tradition and build Chinese hermeneutic.In this paper I try to study Liu Zhi’s Wugong ethical thoughts from view of hermeneutics based on history document using literature method, comparative analysis and value analysis, etc. The paper has five parts. Introduction part explains the significance of the theme, relevant research and the main research method. The first chapter presents the background and origin of Liu Zhi’s thoughts. The second chapter combs Liu Zhi’s Wugong thought. The third chapter studies Liu Zhi’s Wugong ethical thoughts from view of hermeneutics. The fourth chapter introduces the influence of Liu Zhi’s Wugong thoughts. The last part is summary and reflection.
