Ministry of education of Japan adopted a resolution on January 1903. It was the decision that they began to use the national textbooks. Before the outbreak of World War Ⅱ, there were four periods of textbooks published. According to these textbooks, this paper analyze the development and evolution of Japan’s history education in ordinary elementary school at that time. This paper will help us to understand history education of primary school in Japan by analyzing criticism of history education in ordinary elementary school from scholars and campaigners of that time, from which lessons and inspiration could be found.The paper divides into these three parts:The first part discusses the background of the establishment of the objective and the process of establishing the national textbooks in Japan; The second part introduces the characteristics and problems of the history education in the primary school of the history of the Japanese war in each of four period by seeing the changes of the national textbooks as a clue. At the same time, it references of the society at that time the scholars on the teaching and teaching methods and suggestions. The third part objectively understand the history education of primary school in Japan before the war and its far-reaching influence on history and society further, according to the feedback and evaluation of the social circles before and after World War Ⅱ to the historical education results.
