Mergjih is a widely-known Mongolian musician and composer, enjoying high prestige at home and broad. Travailing to many countries in the world,he learned and exchanged different music culture, and he also traced the historical footprints of the ancient Mongolia music throughout our motherland.Based on his exploration and practice, he is capable of combining various creation techniques of music with Mongolian musical elements, and thereby forms a unique creative style. Ode to the Motherland, co-created with Arthur Bayinjirgeleng(Mongolian lyric-writer), is a large-scale instrumental works,which embraces chorus and orchestra. Among his fabulous works, this masterpiece praises our magnificent rivers and mountains people’s harmonious and prosperous life and expects the bring future.The second chapter, the main part of this thesis, focuses on analyzing this works in three sections. In the first section, the author touches on looking for, texturing and presenting the theme of a Mongolian musical masterpiece in the aspects of the origin and development of theme material. Section II discuses the application of more sound techniques in the symphonic choral tone poem, which is illustrated in four aspects: harmonic techniques,comparison between overall structure and each paragraphs, polyphonic writer techniques, as well as Mongolian musical elements in symphonic chorus. In the section III, the author studies the similarities and differences of the compose techniques of them in the chorus and orchestra, and how they intertwined with integration. The author contends, this works employed the form of one theme in one chapter, which is unlike the former. In this way the theme of praising motherland is highlighted and unifies in the overall layout.By the changes of tempo, beat, modal tonality and timbre, Mater Mergjih weaves smoothly the theme into each part, rendering the theme stand unified and contrast. This music works is not only innovative in genre, but shows the excellent compositional techniques and deep knowledge of the authors.Mergjih used the theme material from Mongolian folks as the core unifying the whole piece, and then perfectly combined chorus and orchestra presenting the theme of praising our nation and happy life. Harmonies are still the traditional three-chord stack, coupled with mufti-tonal chords and other techniques. With the composer’s effort, colorful harmonies and melodies perfectly unified. Polyphony is the important tool in the song, serving as the application of polyphony texture and the link to unify the whole works. As for the orchestration, the composer expressed different music figure by employing brass group, woodwind group, string group and chorus. The string groups show the long deep and magnificent melodies. The brass group brings the powerful rhyme. Mergjih is at home in a variety of composing skills creating this great masterpiece.
