With the development of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, more and more people join in the team of Chinese studying. They accept long-time or short-time Chinese training held by schools or training institutes. The short-time Chinese Teaching to foreigners become one of significant ways for the reason that many people have no much spare time. Teaching materials as the foundation of class teaching plays an important role, it emphasizes the significance of short-time teaching materials in the area of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. In addition, the Task-based theory get a big achievement, it is usually used to guide the edition of Chinese materials, especially for the short-term teaching materials. Therefore, this essay chooses two different teaching materials which are EXPERIENCING CHINESE· LIVING IN CHINA and ROAD TO SUCCESS· LOWER ELEMENTARY, comparing from the view of the structure, phonetic, vocabulary, grammar and exercises. The author find that EXPERIENCING CHINESE· LIVING IN CHINA is more suits for short-time Chinese teaching to foreigners. Moreover, the author hopes to put forward some useful suggestions to edit short-time Chinese teaching materials by combining for the questionnaire of the users of EXPERIENCING CHINESE· LIVING IN CHINA.
