With the frequent communication between Chinese and foreign cultures, emerged a global "mandarin fever", more and more foreign learners choose study Chinese in China. The short-term learners are different from the long-term learners who want to get a job or built commercial relationships. They more often want to combine travel about study, and hope know well the simple daily words and the basic rules about Chinese, fell about Chinese culture, at the same time as the future learning Chinese to make rational evaluation system. These learners generally to the survival of language as the primary goal, they are interested in Chinese culture. Therefore, we must develop in line with their learning design and learning characteristics to these beginning learners in short-term training. The topic task-based approach mainly about students’ communicative needs, and continue to expand their living space as the clue, to show students in Chinese learning and life scenes. These characteristics in line with the requirements of beginning learners in short-term training in Chinese teaching.This thesis analyzes the research status of beginning learners in short-term Chinese teaching and the topic task-based approach, then find that while the research about beginning learners in short-term training are quite rich, consider about beginning learners and short-term as comprehensive factor are very poor. It’s more less about the topic task-based approach used to short-term training. By analyses beginning learners in short-term training who interested in traveling and Chinese culture, the author think the topic task-based approach is more fit for them, because the topic task-based approach is more communicative, real, interesting and flexible, it can help them learn language during using and satisfy their communicative require.This thesis use the theory of the topic task-based approach to design teaching activity, proposes an assertion that the design of topic must satisfy learner’s interesting, communicative require and language skill. When teachers search for language input and situational material, they must choose teaching material more flexibly and diversity. Communicative tasks must be useful, real, workable, interesting and diversity. Teachers must simplify language input and language practice and increase the weight of learners’language output during teaching. Then this thesis combine design theory with practice, use the topic task-based approach design the course "Cheng Che". Then this thesis make a conclude, proposes an assertion that the topic task-based approach can improve learners’language and communicative knowledge in the meantime, and active the class atmosphere. At last this thesis give some suggestions to some problems of the topic task-based approach.
